On July 3, 2026, NRK Director General Vibeke Furst Haugen joined commercial media in discussions titled "The Future of Editorially Controlled Media 2035." Previously, on June 6, 2026, NRK outlined planning for television services for 2026-2028 and issued a Request for Information (RFI) for a Workflow Provisioning System (WPS) to support its new production platform. Earlier, on June 2, 2026, Norwegian broadcaster NRK reported on a recent study which concluded that the most pessimistic global warming scenario, the RCP 8.5 pathway, has become "increasingly improbable" due to factors such as declining renewable energy costs, stronger climate policies, and slower growth in global carbon dioxide emissions.
