News Summary:

RTÉ anticipates a multi-million euro advertising windfall should Ireland qualify for the World Cup, as reported on March 21, 2026. This follows the National Lottery's confirmation on March 15 that its draw results operated successfully despite earlier technical issues with the broadcast. The National Lottery now produces and broadcasts the draw results, a responsibility it assumed after RTÉ recently decided to cease production for cost-saving purposes. On March 13, Rick O'Shea was announced as the new presenter for RTÉ’s Arena program. Earlier the same day, RTÉ became the new title sponsor for the Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland (IAPI) Effie awards and effectiveness year program. This multi-year partnership, whose value was not disclosed, aims to heighten advertising effectiveness through a program of thought leadership research and capability-building.
