On May 2, Ericsson underscored the transformative role of advanced connectivity, artificial intelligence (AI), and 5G in accelerating Pakistan’s digital economy. The company shared this perspective at the inaugural EU–Pakistan Business Forum 2026 in Islamabad, a two-day event that brought together government officials, global technology leaders, investors, and industry stakeholders to explore investment, innovation, and deeper economic cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union. Previously, on May 1, Costa Rica's Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) awarded Ericsson a $220 million contract for a 5G network. Earlier the same day, Ericsson discussed plans to expand its manufacturing footprint and increase research and development investments in India with Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The company currently manufactures and exports 5G gear from India.
