On September 18, KDDI, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Lawson presented their efforts to transform Lawson into a "Next-generation Convenience Store" at IR DAY 2026. Earlier on September 18, KDDI announced its agreement with SpaceX to introduce the next generation Starlink Mobile V2 service through its ‘au’ mobile network brand in Japan. The agreement, signed on August 10 and announced by KDDI on September 15, anticipates high-speed satellite data and voice calls launching during 2027. Also on September 18, KDDI, in partnership with Morgenrot Inc. and TOHKnet Co.Inc., launched a demonstration of a distributed data center utilizing retail robots, aiming to address power and GPU shortages in the AI era through Point-to-Multipoint APN and GPU virtualization. This initiative follows a capital business partnership agreement KDDI, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Lawson Inc. signed on February 6, 2024, to create new consumer values by integrating "Real Digital and Green" elements.
