On September 11, 2025, KDDI and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a strategic partnership in Vietnam. KDDI also announced that its "au Starlink Direct" service now supports satellite data communication for 21 iPhone models, including iPhone 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and iPhone Air, enabling access to essential apps in areas without terrestrial cellular coverage.
