Omroep Max, also known as MAX, Omroep MAX en WNL, is a state-owned national public broadcasting association headquartered in the Netherlands at the Media Park in Hilversum. Founded in late 2002 by media executive Jan Slagter to address a perceived deficiency in senior-oriented programming, the organization officially initiated its television and radio transmissions on 3 September 2005. Operating as an established pillar of the Dutch public broadcasting system (NPO), MAX functions as the country’s largest membership-based broadcasting association, boasting a domestic base of over 430,000 active subscribers, and is estimated to have approximately 250 employees.
