News Summary:

On March 9, 2026, Mediacorp's CNA News Channel expanded its global footprint, doubling its reach to over 180 million homes and connected devices worldwide. This expansion into Europe, achieved through strategic partnerships, significantly increased its presence from two years prior when it began rolling out its free ad-supported television (FAST) channel, now known as CNA Originals, in the Western hemisphere. Previously, on February 24, Henry Kwek (Kebun Baru) advocated for adequate and sustainable funding for public service media, including CNA, during the Budget debate, citing the need to combat AI-generated disinformation. Earlier, on February 15, Mediacorp secured the broadcast rights for the 2026 World Cup, a departure from its previous three-way partnership with local telcos StarHub and Singtel for the 2018 and 2022 editions.
