Previously, on March 20, Wenyi Ding was in a share of fourth place at the Hainan Classic, 14 under par and three shots off joint leaders Jorge Campillo and Jordan Gumberg. Earlier that day, Rahm dropped his appeal against the fines imposed by the DP World Tour for his participation in LIV Golf, a move that placed his Ryder Cup future in doubt as he declined to sign reinstatement deals that other LIV Golf players had accepted.
