Digicel Group, a privately owned company headquartered in Jamaica, was founded in 2001 and operates as a tier 1 media tech buyer. With approximately 8,380 employees, the company primarily offers media and TV services, functioning as a telecommunications and entertainment provider with a significant presence across the Caribbean, Central America, and the Pacific. Digicel Group provides a range of services structured across three main divisions: Mobile, Home, and Business.
Digicel Group recently secured a reduction in the interest rate on a major portion of its debt, cutting the rate on its US$648 million term loan by 0.75 percentage points without altering the loan's size, structure, or maturity on April 28. This move signals growing lender confidence in the Jamaica-based telecoms group's turnaround. Previously on April 28, Fitch Ratings stated that Digicel International Finance Limited's prospective debt repricing on its existing term loan and a USD100 million repayment are neutral to the company's 'B' Long-Term Issuer Default Rating with a Stable Rating Outlook and its senior secured debt rating of 'B'. Earlier that day, Digicel announced it successfully repriced its term loan due in 2032, explaining that the transaction lowers its borrowing costs on existing debt and reflects improved operating performance, disciplined financial management, and continued progress since its refinancing last year.
