News Summary:

On March 17, 2026, Claro Ecuador confirmed a $600 million investment plan for the next three years to strengthen its infrastructure, expand coverage, and advance next-generation technologies in the country. América Móvil CEO Daniel Hajj announced the plan after meeting with Ecuadorian president Daniel Noboa and telecommunications minister Roberto Kury, following Claro's agreement with Tigo (Millicom) late last year to extend spectrum concessions until 2038. Earlier, on March 13, Claro Colombia, an America Movil subsidiary, submitted a pre-evaluation request to the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) for authorization to acquire the telecommunications assets of Azteca Comunicaciones Colombia and Total Play Comunicaciones Colombia, both owned by Mexican conglomerate Grupo Salinas. The proposed acquisition includes the 20,000-kilometer PNFO fibre network and the 12,000-kilometer ACC network, both operated by Azteca Comunicaciones. Previously, on March 5, Sitios Latinoamerica finalized the sale of its Colombian portfolio and all related shares to Claro Colombia as part of an operations optimization strategy. This transaction, completed in the final quarter of 2025, marks Colombia as the first country where America Movil has reacquired its tower assets from Sitios LatAm. On March 4, Claro Colombia expanded its 5G network to include Leticia and San Andrés, extending coverage to 59 cities and over 2,200 stations and aiming to bridge the connectivity gap for remote regions.
