SoftBank Group Corp. is finalizing the week with nearly US$21 billion in potential new borrowings, expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) financing capacity, and intends to raise an additional US$10 billion to US$20 billion next week through a jumbo bond deal. Earlier on September 18, the conglomerate increased its margin loan, backed by shares of its chip unit Arm Holdings Plc, by US$5 billion to US$25 billion as it seeks to fund its growing AI investments. This followed SoftBank securing an additional US$450 million, boosting an existing credit line to US$6.5 billion, which provides increased financial flexibility for its AI expansion efforts.
