On March 14, 2026, the Union Européenne de Cyclisme’s (UEC) Management Board awarded six major events to be held in 2026 and 2027, enriching the European cycling calendar. Previously, on August 2, 2025, the 2025 UEC Downhill European Mountain Bike Championships concluded in La Molina, Spain, where 387 athletes from 27 nations competed for continental titles across all categories, from 13-year-olds to Masters. This follows the re-election of Enrico Della Casa as UEC President for a four-year term from 2025 to 2029. Della Casa's mandate was extended on March 9, 2025, after he was re-elected by acclamation during the UEC Congress held in Bratislava, Slovakia, on March 8, 2025. Delegates from 49 of the 51 member federations participated in the congress. Della Casa joined the organization in 2013 and took over European leadership in 2021.
