On July 10, a Reddit user known for "unscientific tests" shared an overall verdict on Valve's Steam Machine, following nine days of use and testing over 60 games. This came as Steam Machine Verified medals, which indicate game compatibility similar to the Steam Deck's system, appeared on game store pages. Earlier the same day, Valve's decision to support SteamOS 3.8 on standard gaming PCs opened the door to a new class of Steam Machines, allowing players to achieve a living-room Linux console experience without Valve's proprietary hardware. Previously on July 10, Valve rolled out Steam Machine and SteamOS compatibility ratings to its Steam store and mobile app, making them visible to users. On July 9, Valve reversed its trophy policy for the Counter-Strike IEM Cologne Major 2026, awarding veteran player Finn “karrigan” Andersen an in-game champion trophy after he led Team Falcons to a 3-0 sweep over FURIA in the grand finals on June 22.
