It transitioned through several historical phases—from the PTT (Postal Telegraph Telephone) directorate to a state-owned enterprise in 1994, and then to a privatized entity in 2005. As of 2026, the company is majority-owned by the Turkey Wealth Fund (60%), following a re-nationalization period in 2022.
