It provides edge cloud services and content delivery solutions for publishers and application providers, and is a founding member of the Streaming Video Technology Alliance (SVTA). Qwilt specializes in open caching systems, based on SVTA specifications, which are deeply embedded in mobile, telco, and cable service provider partner networks globally.
Qwilt announced the departure of CEO and co-founder Alon Maor, who will transition to an advisory role on the board of directors. A survey conducted by Qwilt indicates that North American content publishers anticipate 30% to 50% of their live stream viewers will use mobile devices. Qwilt also reported deploying 2196 edge nodes across 38 countries on six continents, expanding its edge cloud network. This expansion, according to Qwilt, strengthens its position in edge computing and delivery.
Qwilt's customers primarily consist of telecoms companies. Examples of Qwilt's customers include Telefonica, Vodafone and BT Group. Qwilt has commercial and technical partners like National Content & Technology Cooperative and Cisco.
