Previously, on June 29, 2026, MTV secured exclusive rights to Finland's top-tier domestic ice hockey competitions through the 2031-32 season, a deal brokered by Commercial Sports Media. This rights acquisition came after MTV had terminated its prior distribution agreements with Elisa, effective May 13, 2026. That termination, which occurred two days before the popular World Ice Hockey Championships, rendered MTV's free-to-air channels unavailable for live viewing to approximately 800,000 households using Elisa's services.
