Also on March 21, Vodafone Idea and state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) began talks to share towers, fibre, and spectrum, aiming to cut costs, improve network reach, and potentially accelerate 5G rollout. Previously, on March 20, the government asked Vodafone Idea to expand its search for both domestic and international investors to facilitate its potential exit from the telecom operator. A US-based fund with an Indian-origin founder reportedly showed interest, possibly partnering with a domestic entity with telecom operational experience. The discussions between Vodafone Idea and BSNL regarding infrastructure sharing were initially reported on March 20, with acknowledgment from the Department of Telecommunications, noting the government's nearly half ownership of Vodafone Idea following a major bailout.
