Previously, on September 11, 2026, Zong reportedly terminated around 150 employees at its Islamabad head office without compensation, according to accounts shared by affected workers, though the company has not officially confirmed the layoffs or the exact terms of departure. Earlier on the same day, the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication decided to summon the chief executives of Zong, Jazz, and Ufone to its next meeting to explain persistent poor mobile phone service quality across the country. This followed the committee's expression of serious concern and an earlier summons on September 10, 2026, for officials from these operators over persistent complaints about poor mobile and internet services, including frequent call failures and inadequate network quality, amid perceived PTA inaction.
