The company, formerly known as Hanaro Telecom, is one of South Korea's largest broadband Internet access providers. Until its takeover in 2008, Hanaro Telecom controlled nearly half of the Korean landline market, having been the sole last mile-competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) alongside state-owned KT Corp. SK Broadband also operates a division named "Broad &" which manages a large portion of the South Korean calling card market.
