Earlier the same day, Sharp announced its aim to generate annual sales of JPY200 billion to JPY300 billion (approximately US$1.2 billion to US$1.9 billion) from new businesses being developed with Foxconn. These initiatives follow a Memorandum of Understanding for strategic collaboration in new business areas that Sharp and Foxconn signed on June 24, 2026. Separately, on July 6, Sharp joined the VVC Advance patent pool as both a licensee and licensor, alongside Samsung Electronics. Access Advance, which manages the patent pool, also identified Cyberpower PC, American Future Technology, Sichuan Changhong NeoNet Technologies, and Tigersecu as additional clients who have procured licenses for VVC codec assets since early 2026.
