Sharp Corporation, also known as Sharp Electronics, is a publicly owned Japanese multinational company founded in 1912. With approximately 3,380 employees, its primary business is in IT services and IT consulting, although its history includes a broader range of electronic product manufacturing.
Sharp announced on August 29 the sale of part of its LCD panel factory in Kameyama City, Mie Prefecture, to Topia for JPY1.2 billion. Aoi Electronics purchased Sharp's factory in Taki, Mie Prefecture, to establish a new production base for data center and advanced packaging applications. Sharp signed a sponsorship agreement with QT DIG ∞, a professional e-sports team. In cooperation with al-Araby Group, Sharp installed air purifiers in the King and Queen’s Chambers of the Khufu Pyramid. Sharp and Sharp Energy Solutions Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding to contribute solar modules to support electrification in Kenya.
