The Philippine National Police (PNP) escalated its monitoring of online gaming platforms, including Roblox, on March 22, 2026, aiming to detect criminal activity and prevent online child exploitation following reports of predators using the platform's interactive features to target minors. Earlier that day, Roblox announced a major policy shift, stating it would introduce ad revenue sharing for creators starting in 2027. This overhaul of its advertising policy is designed to boost transparency, brand deals, and creator earnings by allocating a portion of revenue from in-game brand deals. This follows the Philippines’ Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) announcing on March 21 that it is considering a nationwide ban on Roblox. Citing serious child safety concerns, CICC and Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) officials gave the platform 30 days to address the presence of "threat actors," including pedophiles and drug traffickers, reportedly using the app as a hunting ground for underage users. Also on March 21, Colorado lawmakers began considering a bill that proposes a 5% fee on in-game microtransactions within popular online games like Roblox, potentially generating over $20 million annually for the state’s public schools.
