On September 15, 2026, Posit PBC and Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) announced the public preview of Positron on Amazon SageMaker at posit::conf. This integration brings Posit's next-generation integrated development environment (IDE) for R and Python directly into Amazon SageMaker Studio, enabling data science teams to move from exploration to production within a governed environment in their AWS accounts. Earlier that day, Posit introduced its skiLift and skiPatrol R packages, designed to provide R users with easier and deeper integration for working with Snowflake, addressing specific feedback from users. This follows the availability of Positron in preview on Posit Cloud on September 14, 2026, offering the IDE alongside RStudio and Jupyter Notebooks without requiring any downloads.
