Opera and Celo finalized a restructured multi-year partnership on March 21, 2026, establishing Opera as a major network stakeholder within the Celo ecosystem. This agreement follows Celo's proposal on March 20 to allocate 160 million tokens to Opera, intended to incentivize the distribution of Celo-based decentralized applications, a plan that some governance forum members questioned due to potential token dilution. Earlier on March 21, Opera also launched its gaming-focused browser, Opera GX, on Linux, making it available across every major desktop operating system for the first time. This dedicated effort brings the full GX experience, including features like GX Control and built-in Discord/Twitch integrations, to Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, and openSUSE-based systems.
