On September 18, 2026, MultiChoice launched a revamped five-package line-up for DStv, designed to offer customers more choice between sport and entertainment amidst a competitive streaming environment, with some existing customers reportedly receiving a "free" Premium upgrade. Previously, on September 17, MultiChoice unveiled plans to introduce refreshed subscription packages for DStv and GOtv, aiming to provide more choice, value, and control over the viewing experience, with further details expected in the coming weeks. On the same day, DStv and GOtv were set to introduce refreshed packages in Nigeria, which included the addition of three new M-Net Movies channels: M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars, and M-Net Legends. This followed MultiChoice's announcement on September 15 that DStv subscribers in South Africa would have five new packages to choose from as part of a significant change to the pay-TV service, with new streaming options priced from R99 to R799 a month, including dedicated sports and movies/series packages, effective September 17.
