News Summary:

Costa Kokorogiannis, product manager at Matrox Video, stated on July 7, 2026, that broadcasters are rethinking traditional control rooms as they transition to remote, distributed, and hybrid production models. This move aims to improve efficiency, reduce travel, and make better use of specialized staff. Previously, on June 30, Matrox announced its SRT Gateway workflows connect source-side jobs such as Maevex Monarch EDGE appliance encoding, production ingest, and monitored outputs to a controlled live video operations layer, in conjunction with cloud video tools provided by Callaba. This followed the company's plan to showcase its new Maevex MGX series at the InfoComm 2026 show that month, addressing the challenge of moving high-quality video over networks without excessive bandwidth and complexity amidst AV and IT convergence. Earlier, on June 4, 2026, Matrox Video launched the Maevex MGX Series, a new lineup of IPMX-ready video encoders and decoders with USB support, engineered to deliver 4K60 AV-over-IP distribution at one-twentieth the bitrate of most other ProAV codecs, aiming to significantly reduce network complexity and cost.
