News Summary:

On March 18, 2026, Grass Valley expanded its partnership with University of Pittsburgh Athletics, completing a major upgrade that transitioned the department's broadcast facilities to a SMPTE ST 2110 IP backbone. This infrastructure supports Pitt Athletics' 19 NCAA Division I programs and their annual production of over 150 live events for broadcast, streaming, videoboards, and internal distribution. Earlier on the same day, Grass Valley and Tab M Solutions delivered an entirely new broadcast infrastructure for a production hub at the University of Illinois. This project, Phase 1 of a multi-phase buildout, involved designing a hybrid SMPTE ST 2110/SDI architecture within an existing facility, addressing space and thermal constraints while allowing staff to maintain familiar SDI workflows and leverage IP for efficiency and scalability.
