Earlier, on September 8, MultiChoice CEO Willington Ngwepe unveiled DStv's most significant overhaul of its pay-TV service in 15 years at a Randburg media event, stating the existing 15-year-old package structure no longer matched changing customer expectations. This followed DStv's official transformation into the "Expect+" era on September 7, unveiling a revamped brand identity and a completely restructured lineup of packages. This transition, driven by an ambitious R1.9 billion "boost plan," came after French media giant Canal+'s R50 billion acquisition of MultiChoice in late 2025. DStv introduced these new Expect+ packages to meet consumer demand, while also grappling with persistent piracy challenges and aiming to curb subscriber exodus. The new package structure was set to roll out to customers on September 17, 2026.
