Comteco, also known as Cooperativa de Telecomunicaciones Cochabamba, is a Privately Owned company headquartered in Bolivia. Founded in 1944, it employs approximately 250 individuals and reported $43.0M in revenue as of 2024. The company operates as a tier 2 media tech buyer, specializing in telecommunications and functioning as a digital service provider. Originally established to create basic telephone networks across the region, Comteco has evolved over more than eight decades into an infrastructure provider anchoring the digital and media markets of the Cochabamba department, extending its services nationwide. It operates under a cooperative business model where its thousands of active local subscribers serve as primary shareholders. The cooperative also holds a 28.5% corporate ownership stake in Nuevatel PCS, which operates commercially as the national mobile operator Viva. Comteco manages its extensive data infrastructure networks, sub-stations, and retail installations through its specialized workforce.
