Central Board Of Film Certification (India), also known as CBFC, is a state-owned statutory regulatory body headquartered in India. Established in 1951 pursuant to the provisions of the Cinematograph Act, 1952, the organization operates under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), Government of India. The board, which maintains its primary headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra, is headed by a Chairman alongside central government-appointed board members. It is legally mandated to regulate the public exhibition of feature films, documentaries, trailers, and short films across Indian theatrical circuits and broadcast television networks.
