This breach follows the cyber gang's action on April 30, 2026, when it made Vimeo data available for free download on the dark web. ShinyHunters copied this data during a breach at service provider Anodot and proceeded to release it after Vimeo apparently did not respond to an extortion attempt. Earlier on April 30, Vimeo unveiled a fully rebuilt profile page with enhanced showcase features, aiming to present creators' work more visually and improve profile aesthetics. This update came after the company's recent introduction of a simplified video review experience.
