On June 25, 2026, UK Athletics appointed Anna Blackman and Edleen John as Non-Executive Directors to its Board. Blackman, who previously served as Independent Chair of the UK Athletics Audit & Risk Committee, joins the Board while continuing in her committee chair role. Previously, on June 2, UK Athletics received a fine of £350,000 ($471,520) over the 2017 death of United Arab Emirates Paralympic athlete Abdullah Hayayei. Hayayei was killed when a metal throwing cage fell on him during training at the Newham Leisure Centre in London, as he prepared for the 2017 World Paralympic Athletics Championships. Following the sentence, UK Athletics issued a statement expressing deep and genuine regret for the identified failings and the impact on all affected. Earlier, on May 13, UK Athletics named a 51-member Novuna Great Britain and Northern Ireland (GB & NI) U20 and Para team for the 2026 Loughborough International Athletics meet, scheduled for May 17.
