Earlier in September, Studio Ghibli Chairman Toshio Suzuki confirmed his personal use of AI out of curiosity, stating he had queried it about the studio's future, noting that Director Hayao Miyazaki remains unaware of generative AI's existence. Suzuki has previously expressed disinterest in generative AI images, a sentiment reportedly shared even more strongly by Miyazaki, aligning with his artistic principles. This follows an increased demand for Ghibli-themed Airbnbs across Japan, including Yamanashi and Ehime, driven by post-pandemic pop culture travel and international visitors increasingly opting for unique accommodations over traditional hotel stays in 2026.
