This certification builds on Nordic’s own Skylo-certified nRF9151, aiming to reduce time-to-market for IoT product developers, with water technology company Remsight already deploying the modem to monitor water infrastructure across the American West. This followed an August 8 test where Space42 and Skylo Technologies completed a two-way SMS and emergency SOS test directly between a standard Android smartphone and the Thuraya-4 satellite. Earlier, on August 6, Nordic Semiconductor announced a faster path to satellite and cellular IoT, noting Skylo certification adopted by embedded modem maker LooUQ, which enables IoT developers to build devices that connect across cellular and satellite networks using Skylo's standards-based NTN service.
