On September 9, 2026, the newly formed satellite direct-to-device (D2D) company Elveo, which resulted from the recent merger of Lynk Global and Omnispace, positioned itself to provide connectivity in remote locations to public-safety and critical-infrastructure entities, according to an executive. This followed the September 4 completion of the merger between Omnispace and Lynk, which launched Elveo Mobile as a new entity focused on delivering global satellite connectivity, with Hogan Lovells Cadwalader advising Omnispace. Earlier, on September 3, Lynk and Omnispace introduced their D2D service Elveo Mobile after the merger closed. Previously, on August 20, SMART Communications Inc. partnered with Lynk Global to expand its D2D satellite service testing to Batangas, aiming to strengthen communications resiliency and support national disaster response capabilities.
