RCD Espanyol de Barcelona is a privately owned entity headquartered in Spain, specifically Cornellà de Llobregat, Barcelona. Founded in 1900 and operating with approximately 270 employees, the company specializes in spectator sports, primarily functioning as a Spanish professional football club.
RCD Espanyol is reportedly closing in on a loan deal for Brazilian defensive midfielder Gabriel Moscardo, whom Paris Saint-Germain signed for €20 million in January 2024, as of June 30, 2026. Previously, on June 23, Espanyol reportedly enquired about the availability of FC Bayern winger Bryan Zaragoza as the club seeks to strengthen its wide attacking options. This followed earlier reports from June 22 indicating Zaragoza's expected departure from Bayern Munich after his loan spell at AS Roma, as he reportedly has no long-term sporting future with the German champions. On June 10, news emerged that FC Barcelona activated the €25 million release clause for goalkeeper Joan García, completing his transfer from RCD Espanyol on June 18, 2025. This deal marked the first direct senior transfer between the two cross-city rivals in 31 years. Earlier, on June 7, Southampton reportedly showed interest in Espanyol winger Jofre Carreras, who has seen a reduced role at the Catalan club and could depart this summer.
