On April 29, 2026, FPGA developer Jotego confirmed his and Furrtek's involvement with Plaion's upcoming Neo Geo AES+, discussing the project and suggesting Plaion has another console in development. This follows an April 24 announcement that SNK and Plaion increased production forecasts for the Neo Geo+, a modern recreation of the classic AES home system, due to an "overwhelming" market response. Earlier on April 21, the NeoGeo AES+ was described as an almost complete reproduction of an existing circuit system, aiming to faithfully replicate original 1990s hardware without emulation or FPGAs, a design choice that sparked debate within the retro gaming community. Concurrently, an FPGA developer claimed the Neo Geo AES+ utilizes ASIC code from FPGA developers Furrtek and Jotego, suggesting it resembles a MiSTer core split into multiple ASICs and accusing makers of a "bait and switch" contradictory to marketing. Previously, on April 20, Plaion had solicited community input regarding preferred Neo Geo game re-releases, referencing titles such as "Super Sidekicks 3 Or Ultimate 11?" and "Neo Mr Do!".
