On September 18, 2026, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved a request from Paramount and Skydance to allow foreign investors to participate in their $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, albeit with restrictions barring foreign investors from holding voting stock in the merged entity. Earlier the same day, Paramount and Channel 4 formalized a long-term commercial deal, effective from 2027, under which Channel 4 Sales will manage advertising across a broad UK portfolio, including Channel 5. This agreement marks the first time ad sales for both public service broadcasters have been combined, aiming to provide greater scale for advertisers and underpin continued investment in British programming by both broadcasters.
