Northumbria University, also known as The University of Northumbria at Newcastle, is a publicly owned institution headquartered in the UK. With origins in the Rutherford College founded in 1877, the institution became a university in 1992 and employs approximately 6,280 individuals. It functions as a public research university located in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East of England.
