Its primary offering includes broadcast television and radio. Owned and operated by Myanmar's armed forces, the Tatmadaw, distinct from the civilian Ministry of Information, it functions as the primary broadcast and communications arm for the military establishment. Established under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare, the network operates a suite of digital terrestrial channels, including the flagship MWD HD, MWD Variety, and specialized feeds for education and documentaries, which combine entertainment programming with state-aligned news and strategic messaging. Its online portal, myawady.net.mm, serves as the central aggregator for official military press releases and State Administration Council (SAC) announcements, positioning the network as a key information conduit within the current political landscape.
