On July 8, 2026, Midjourney pushed back against Hollywood studios, including Disney, Universal, and Warner Bros., who are suing it for copyright infringement, by seeking to compel them to disclose how they train their own AI algorithms. The AI company reportedly wants the studios to reveal their internal AI practices, arguing they may be engaging in the same actions for which they are suing Midjourney, and has asked a US court to force this disclosure. Earlier on July 8, Midjourney founder David Holz commented that current AI coding tools are increasing programmer productivity while also causing mental exhaustion, thereby changing the dynamics of software development.
