Founded in 1940, with approximately 3,640 employees, the company holds a legal monopoly over all radio and television broadcasting services within the Islamic Republic of Iran. Operating as one of the largest media organizations in the Middle East, it functions under the direct supervision of the Supreme Leader and serves as the primary vehicle for national news, cultural preservation, and state-sanctioned entertainment. The corporation manages an extensive network of dozens of national and provincial television channels, alongside international multilingual outlets like Press TV and Al-Alam, aimed at projecting the state's perspective to a global audience.
