On June 17, 2026, reports indicated the T1 "Trump Phone," previously marketed with "Made in America" claims, is a re-skinned HTC U24 device manufactured in China. A recent teardown confirmed the gadget's near-identicality to a product from Taiwan-based HTC. This followed earlier reports on June 15, which characterized the heavily promoted $499 T1 phone, originally promised as "Made in the USA" and later downgraded to "Assembled in the USA," as a private-label phone. Previously, on June 13, analysis by repair experts at iFixit reportedly concluded the T1 Phone, which Trump Mobile promoted as embodying American values, was largely based on the HTC U24 Pro. This built on a June 12 report that discovered Donald Trump’s gold T1 phone shared key hardware similarities with HTC’s U24 Pro, noting that iFixit compared scans, components, and internal layouts to find the Trump Mobile smartphone closely mirrored HTC’s U24 Pro.
