DeepMind Technologies Limited, also known as Google DeepMind, is a privately owned British-American artificial intelligence research laboratory and subsidiary of Google, headquartered in the UK. Founded in 2010, the company employs approximately 2,020 individuals, functioning primarily to offer research services.
Google DeepMind appointed Jasjeet Sekhon as Chief Strategy Officer, effective immediately, on March 22, 2026. Sekhon, a data scientist who previously led AI initiatives at Bridgewater Associates and taught at Yale University, will oversee research commercialization and policy for the company. Previously, on March 21, Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind and creator of the Go AI AlphaGo, warned about the dangers of artificial intelligence. His statements reference AlphaGo’s 2016 victory over world champion Lee Sedol, an event Hassabis previously equated to "landing on the moon."
