Functioning as a neutral fiber network provider, FiBrasil was created by Telefônica Brasil, Telefónica Infra – the infrastructure arm of Telefónica Group – and CDPQ – a global investment group in Brazil.
FiBrasil, a neutral fiber network created by Telefónica Brasil, Telefónica Infra, and CDPQ, commenced operations in Brazil on September 17, 2026. The company aims to provide wholesale fiber infrastructure to 5.5 million homes and businesses over the next four years, with Vivo serving as its first customer. FiBrasil is designed to enable clients to reach their customers with lower capital requirements and shorter time-to-market, replacing high initial investment risk with a less capital-intensive model. The new company operates with a fully independent team, led by a CEO and an executive body of over 150 employees. Previously, on May 19, 2026, Telefonica Brasil finalized the acquisition of the remaining 24.99 percent stake in FiBrasil for BRL 458.7 million. These shares were formerly held by TEF Infra, a subsidiary of the Telefonica group, and the payment was made in a single installment upon signing the agreement. Telefonica Brasil now holds 100 percent of FiBrasil, fully consolidating the fiber-optic network operator as a subsidiary.
