Earlier, European Rugby League revealed on November 4, 2025, that its Annual Council Meeting on November 22 would discuss a proposal to move the organization's headquarters to France, seeking access to greater funding following an agreement at the previous year's meeting to analyze EU relocation options. On September 10, 2025, Scotland and Ireland prepared for the 2026 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup in Australia by competing in a senior international for world ranking points on October 18 at the Oriam Performance Centre in Edinburgh.
