DC Thomson announced on April 28, 2026, that print production and editorial operations for its Beano comic would return to the company's Dundee plant at Kingsway. This move, described by publisher Gareth Whelan as a "significant moment," marks the first time in over 16 years that the world's longest-running weekly comic will be produced fully in-house, underscoring DC Thomson's long-term commitment to the title. Earlier, on April 24, DC Thomson partnered with VisitScotland for a campaign aimed at reigniting domestic travel demand, featuring iconic comic characters The Broons and Oor Wullie as ambassadors for Scottish travel. Previously, on April 23, the company published a special set of Commando comics to commemorate ANZAC Day, focusing on the exploits of Australian and New Zealand military personnel.
