CTM is a privately owned telecommunications company headquartered in Macau. Founded in 1981, it employs approximately 110 individuals. Functioning as a telecom provider, the company operates with a monopoly franchise license from the government for telecommunications services, with the exception of mobile telephone services.
The Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) announced on September 15 that Hutchison Telephone (Macau) will cease operations after 11:59 p.m. on November 30, with its existing customers transferring to CTM. This follows Hutchison Telephone (Macau), operating as 3 Macau, stating on September 14 that it would cease mobile operations on December 1, following its MOP 10 million acquisition by CTM earlier this year. The departure leaves CTM and state-owned China Telecom Macau as the two remaining mobile operators in the market. Previously, on September 9, CTM and the CTT jointly conducted a Telecom Network Incident Emergency Response Drill to enhance emergency response capabilities for cybersecurity incidents. The simulation mobilized nearly 60 network engineers and equipment vendors to test and evaluate rapid response, collaborative handling, emergency restoration, and real-time reporting under sudden network contingencies.
