News Summary:

Claro Colombia filed a request with the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) on March 13, 2026, seeking authorization to acquire telecommunications assets from Azteca Comunicaciones Colombia and Total Play Comunicaciones Colombia, both owned by Mexican conglomerate Grupo Salinas. The proposed acquisition includes the 20,000-kilometer PNFO fibre network and the 12,000-kilometer ACC network operated by Azteca Comunicaciones. Previously, on March 5, 2026, Sitios Latinoamerica finalized the sale of its Colombian portfolio and all related shares to Claro Colombia in the final quarter of 2025. This move made Colombia the first country where America Movil reacquired its tower assets from its spun-off infrastructure entity, Sitios LatAm, as part of an operations optimization strategy. Earlier in March, on the 4th, Claro Colombia expanded its 5G network to Leticia and San Andrés, reaching 59 cities and over 2,200 stations, bridging connectivity for regions including the Amazon and San Andrés & Providencia Archipelago. This followed an expansion on February 18, 2026, when the company extended its 5G network to seven additional municipalities: Chigorodó (Antioquia), Curumaní (Cesar), Granada (Meta), Arauca (Arauca), Funza (Cundinamarca), Aguazul (Casanas), and Chaparral (Tolima). In February, specifically on the 11th, Claro Colombia reported full-year 2025 revenues of $4 billion (COP16.57 trillion), a 4.2% annual increase, and an EBITDA of $1.63 billion (COP6.67 trillion), up 3.1%, according to its parent company America Movil's Q4 2025 earnings report. The company also announced that its 5G network had reached 5 million users.
