Previously, on August 19, 2026, JRFU President Masato Tsuchida responded to Asia Rugby’s official acknowledgment that suspending Iwabuchi’s Vice Chairman position in 2025 was an error "without justifiable reason." Earlier, on June 17, 2026, Iwabuchi resigned as Vice President of Asia Rugby during a World Rugby Council meeting in Dublin. At that time, the JRFU expressed ongoing concerns about Asia Rugby's management structure under President Qais Al Dhalai.
