The company reported $289.9M in revenue as of 2024. Functioning as a media production entity, it serves as the commercial arm of ZDF, one of the largest TV broadcasters in Europe.
Cottonwood Media, Coolabi Productions, ZDF Studios, and BBC Children’s and Education greenlit a second season for the live-action tween spy series "The Lady Grace Mysteries" on July 2, 2026. This announcement followed the first season's world premiere in April on the BBC’s children’s television channel CBBC and BBC iPlayer. Previously, on June 15, ZDF Studios unveiled a slate of premium factual programming slated for the upcoming Sunny Side of the Doc, which took place from June 22–24 in La Rochelle. The company presented a mix of high-end history, character-driven storytelling, and nature titles to meet global demand for relevant and engaging content. Earlier in June, on the 10th, ZDF Studios announced it would globally distribute "Song Trip," a format uniquely combining music, travel, and cultural exchange. CONTENT LADEN, an affiliated company of ZDF Studios, produces the series for ZDF, which features well-known artists collaborating closely with local musicians in other countries.
