Zayo Group is a privately owned company headquartered in the US. Founded in 2007, it employs approximately 3,370 individuals and specializes in enterprise connectivity services. The company functions as a communications infrastructure provider, delivering a range of solutions including fiber & transport, packet, and managed edge services.
A new long-haul fiber network route planned by Zayo Group, set to begin in Chicago, will pass through Mercer County, Ohio, en route to Columbus. This development follows Zayo's January 2025 announcement of its intent to build over 5,000 long-haul fiber route miles to meet increasing demands from AI workloads. Previously, on March 17, 2026, Zayo released its 2026 Cybersecurity Insights Report, based on an analysis of global network traffic in 2025. The report highlighted a 70% increase in the size of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, with attackers increasingly targeting enterprises and critical organizations directly, moving beyond telecommunications providers. This followed Zayo's appointment of Chris Ranalli as Chief Revenue Officer for Enterprise on March 16, 2026.
